Canva has integrated generative features such as; Text to Image, Magic Write™, Magic Edit, and Translate, directly into its platform to help users bring ideas to life.

While Canva’s AI features are standardly intended for individuals aged 13 and over, younger students under 13 can also access these features when participating through Canva Education under teacher supervision. Student Data & AI Controls
AI Training Opt-Outs: Account Privacy Settings give users control over whether their data can be used to train or improve AI-powered tools. Creators can opt-out by updating their preferences here at any time.
Data Ownership: Users retain full control over their personal data, including the ability to download or delete their data at any time via Account Settings or by emailing privacy@canva.com.
Built-in Safety Moderation for AI
Two-Way Content Screening: Canva uses automated moderation to review both input prompts (before generation) and generated outputs (after generation) to block unwanted or inappropriate material.
Blocked Topics: Safety tools are specifically trained to prevent inappropriate content so outputs are classroom friendly.
Bias Reduction & Reporting Tools
Mitigating Bias: Canva takes active measures to reduce unfair bias and cultural misrepresentation in its AI datasets.
In-App Reporting: If inappropriate content gets through or a prompt is flagged incorrectly, teachers and students can report it directly in the app using the Report button (e.g., in Text to Image) or through dedicated feedback links.
Privacy & Security Commitments
Privacy by Design: Canva conducts Data Protection Impact Assessments for new features and maintains strict internal data retention, security, and transfer policies.
Transparency: Canva publishes regular Transparency Reports regarding government data access requests.

Canva Education AI features are off by default for Learners when local authorities initially onboard into this service via Glow. However, Glow Key Contacts can request for certain features, including AI for learners, to be enabled, depending on their local requirements.
