Overview: #

Microsoft Search Progress, sometimes simply called Search Progress in Teams, is actually complementary to Search Coach and builds upon its foundation. While Search Coach focuses on guiding individual research skills, Search Progress takes it a step further by integrating into research assignments within Microsoft Teams for Education.

How it works: #

For Educators:

  • Structured research assignments: Educators can create research assignments directly within Teams, specifying the topic, required sources, and desired number of sources to be analysed.
  • Integrated Search Coach: Students use Search Coach within the assignment to refine their search queries and evaluate sources, leveraging its guidance and feedback.
  • Detailed insights: Educators gain comprehensive insights into students’ research process. They can see search terms used, filters applied, sources saved, and even reflection notes written by students. This allows them to identify areas where individual or class-wide support might be needed.
  • Progress tracking: They can track individual and class progress through visual dashboards and reports, monitoring engagement and learning outcomes.

For Students:

  • Structured research framework: Search Progress provides a clear and organised framework for completing research assignments, guiding them through the process step-by-step.
  • Enhanced learning experience: The integration of Search Coach ensures they receive guidance and feedback throughout their research, leading to more effective source evaluation and analysis.
  • Reflection opportunities: Students can reflect on their learning process within the assignment, documenting their challenges and discoveries. This fosters critical thinking and metacognition skills.

Benefit: #

  • Microsoft Search Progress takes research assignments in Teams to a whole new level.
  • It empowers educators to gain deeper insights into student learning and provides students with a structured and supported research experience, ultimately fostering the development of critical information literacy skills.
