Google Workspace for Education

What is it?

Google Workspace for Education is set of cloud-based productivity tools for communication, collaboration and creativity.

Google Workspace is a managed opt-in service within Glow with the option of adding other additional services. Your local authority or establishment can customise your Google package, depending on your needs and requirements.

Why would I use it?

Google Workspace can be used to facilitate collaboration and creativity; increase teacher efficiency; and improve engagement. Using a mix of different digital tools also support with developing and enhancing digital skills.

If your local authority or establishment opt into Google Workspace, then Google Workspace Fundamentals will be included for free.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Classroom

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Classroom, so that I can set up an all-in-one place for teaching and learning

  • Jamboard

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Jamboard, so that I can create and share collaborative and interactive whiteboard spaces

  • Google Meet

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Meet, so that I can initiate video calls with my colleagues and learners to communicate

  • Google Chrome

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Chrome, so that I can search the web, manage bookmarks, access extensions and sync my settings and passwords across devices

  • Google Calendar

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Calendar, so that I can share meetings, schedule bookable appointment slots and manage my focus time

  • Google Chat

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Chat, so that I can have one to one and group instant messaging with my colleagues

  • Google Contacts

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Contacts, so that I can have an easy place to find and keep all the contact information for the people I collaborate with

Productivity

  • Google Docs

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Docs, so that I can create and collaborate on online documents, and edit together in real-time, from any device

  • Google Slides

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Slides, so that I can create teaching resources, online slideshows, and collaborate with colleagues on beautiful presentations in real-time, from any device

  • Google Sheets

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Slides, so that I can create and collaborate on online spreadsheets and get data insights in real-time, from any device

  • Google Forms

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Forms, so that I can create online quizzes and surveys with multiple question types and analyse results together

  • Google Sites

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Sites, so that I can create and collaborate on securely publishable websites

  • Google Drawings

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Drawings, so that I can build charts, layout diagrams, create flow charts, and easily add them to documents or a Site

  • Google Apps Script

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Apps Script, so that I can automate tasks in Drive, Docs, Sheets and Calendar

Scheduling and Organisation

  • Google Drive

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Drive, so that I can have a cloud-based storage service that enables me to store and access my files on any device

  • Google Calendar

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Calendar, so that I can see when my classes are scheduled or my assignments are due

  • Google Tasks

    As an Educator, I want to be able to use Google Tasks, so that I can assign, manage and edit my to do list from within any Google Workspace document

Please Note

At present, Gmail is not available through Glow.

Google Education Plus Licence

In addition to Google for Education Fundamentals, customers are now able to purchase enhanced licences for their google in Glow Tenant. Your local authority or establishment will need to pay for these licences.

There are a number of Google Additional Services that are available as an opt in service within Glow. Your local authority or establishment can opt into these services but have to manage user consent.

Apps and Extensions

There is a wide range of apps and extensions available that give additional functionality to Google Workspace apps as well as standalone tools that can integrate with your Google tenancy.

These can be requested through your local Glow Key Contact.

Guardian email Summaries

Guardians can get email summaries of their student’s progress and work in a class via Google Classroom.

This service can be requested through your local Glow Key Contact.
