Google improves access to Read Along
In 2019, Google first launched Read Along as an Android app to help young readers have fun while learning to read. Since then, Google has adapted this so it can be used as an Android app or on a computer. Read Along has a reading buddy named Diya that uses Google’s advanced text-to-speech and voice recognition technologies to listen and respond to students with real-time feedback and encouragement as they read aloud.
Previously, this was enabled within Glow for users who had opted-in to Google’s Additional Services only.
We are delighted to announce that as of Friday 2 August 2024, Read Along is included as a Workspace Service for all Google Workspace for Education customers in Glow. This is following Google pulling Read Along out of Additional Services and adding it as a core service.
For more information on this service offering, visit our dedicated Google Read Along page here.
