- New Microsoft 365 Apps Landing Page – Microsoft have rolled out a new, improved Microsoft 365 App Landing Page where you can access a menu of apps and services that you are licensed for.
- Faster Access to Additional Services – We have added a new icon to the Google waffle menu that links you to all of the Google Additional Services live within Glow. Your one-stop-shop for Google Additional Services!
- Using Glow for Remote Learning – We recognise the importance of being prepared for unforeseen events in school life. There are also many opportunities where the curriculum is delivered to learners across Scotland from different locations.

Microsoft

Speaker Progress
While Speaker Coach focuses on individual practice and feedback, Speaker Progress takes it a step further by integrating into speaking and presentation assignments for your whole class within Microsoft Teams for Education.

New Microsoft 365 Apps Landing Page
Microsoft has launched a new Microsoft 365 App Landing Page designed to enhance user productivity. It offers quick access to apps, recently opened, shared, favorite, and recommended documents. Users can easily pin their favorite apps for convenience, streamlining workflow processes and improving overall efficiency when accessing Microsoft 365 services.

Updates for Microsoft Forms
Check out the 2 updates below regarding Microsoft Forms revamped look and feel, and the Forms add-in that’s now available in PowerPoint via Glow.

Improved Visibility for Google Additional Services
We have added a new icon to the Google waffle menu that links you to all of the Google Additional Services live within Glow. Your one-stop-shop for Google Additional Services!

Prepare for Jamboard Discontinuing
Jamboard is now a view-only service. Protect the content of your Jamboards and identify replacement solutions by following this guidance.

New Year, New Lessons!
‘Back to school’ lessons are available with interactive and creative ways to use Google Classroom, Slides, Docs, and Sheets, supporting self-expression and well-being and encouraging time management and organisation.
National Apps

Adobe Express updates and webinar opportunities
Check out the 2 updates below regarding sessions on offer from Adobe, and resources that include fully planned projects with lesson plans and video tutorials.

National app spotlight – Noteable
The Noteable service providing access to cloud based computational notebooks is available via the App Library in Glow.
Noteable can be used to support the delivery of Computing Science and Data Science based courses as well as Higher Applications of Mathematics.

New Glow Blogs Video Tutorials
Visit Glow Blogs Help for a new set of video tutorials on creating different types of Glow Blogs. Get some top tips on using some of the new blogs features to allow greater flexibility, especially around layout and design.

Using Glow for Remote Learning

Manual Glow account housekeeping
Regular housekeeping of Glow accounts is essential to eliminate redundant accounts and maintain accurate SEEMiS records. Local Authorities and RM Unify Administrators must conduct routine reviews, removing unnecessary accounts. Additionally, establishments should update Education Scotland about any changes to their Glow Key Contact to ensure access to relevant communications.

Safeguarding

Storing & sharing information on Glow
Only information related to the delivery of education should be created, stored and shared in Glow. Other systems utilised by your organisation, such as SEEMiS, HR and financial databases exist for specific purposes and should be used for storing sensitive information

Glow Community Rules
Glow has rich potential as a place for Scotland’s children and young people to become confident digital citizens. The following Glow Community Rules are aimed at supporting learners, teachers and parents to develop a good awareness of e-safety and to take full advantage of Glow and the Internet in a positive, safe and responsible way.

Safer Internet Day in the UK is an annual event celebrated in February to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
The UK Safer Internet Centre would like to invite you to a special event preparing for Safer Internet Day 2025 in Scotland.
