The Google Gemini Quick Start Guide has been developed based on user feedback from the pilot program, specifically for colleagues using Gemini via Glow. It provides essential information and links for accessing a Quick Start Guide in both Google Slides and for download.

Customise your Google docs with polished cover images
Google Docs now allows users to personalize documents with full-bleed cover images that enhance visual appeal. Users can select images from various sources, including stock images, personal uploads, or web searches. If cover image options are unavailable, users can switch to Pageless format via file and page setup instructions.
Blogs

WordPress 6.7.2 Is Here – What It Means for You
The recent upgrade to WordPress 6.7.2 for the Blogs service enhances usability, speed, and security, focusing on the Block Editor. Users can expect better editing experiences, faster page loads, new design blocks, and improved layout tools, all aimed at facilitating smoother blog management and content creation.

Important Update: Glow Blogs Archiving and Deletion
Several Glow Blogs are set for archiving and deletion starting early May 2025. Notifications will alert users if their blogs are affected. Teachers can request restorations by 21 August 2025, while students must inform a teacher for assistance. Action is crucial to avoid permanent deletion of important content.

AI Reports and Use Cases

AI within Glow Project Report
Artificial intelligence and machine learning are increasingly integrating into daily tasks, particularly in education since the advent of ChatGPT. The Glow Project, in collaboration with various partners, aims to highlight Glow’s AI features to alleviate concerns and enhance learning, teaching, and assessment through user feedback and streamlined processes.

Google Gemini Pilot Report, February 2025
The 6-month Google Gemini pilot with Argyll & Bute and Clackmannanshire received positive feedback, showcasing effective AI tool implementation in education. Collaboratively delivered by Education Scotland and partners, the project aimed to support staff in using AI for content creation, emphasizing safety and proper usage, while collecting user experiences for further development.

Google Gemini Champion Use Cases and Feedback
A pilot program in Argyll & Bute and Clackmannanshire evaluated Google Gemini’s role in education. Teachers reported reduced workloads and increased creativity through lesson planning and material generation. However, limitations of the free version were identified. User oversight remained critical for accuracy, highlighting the need for continuous evaluation in educational settings.

Scottish Digital Literacy Week will take place from May 12, 2025, featuring live events for educators and learners. Organized by Education Scotland’s digilearn team, it aims to enhance awareness and teaching of digital literacy. Participants are encouraged to share examples of using Adobe Express in educational settings.

AI in Schools Week 2025 – Catch Up Resources – CLPL and Live Lessons
The post promotes the Catch Up Gallery for AI in Schools Week 2025, offering access to recordings of CLPL sessions and live lessons. It provides links to an AI information page, the AI Readiness Self Evaluation Tool, and resources for various interactive AI projects, enhancing educational engagement in AI technology.

Manual Glow account housekeeping
Regular housekeeping of Glow accounts is essential to eliminate redundant accounts and maintain accurate SEEMiS records. Local Authorities and RM Unify Administrators must conduct routine reviews, removing unnecessary accounts. Additionally, establishments should update Education Scotland about any changes to their Glow Key Contact to ensure access to relevant communications.

RM Unify Admin Support
The RM Unify Admin Support page assists school administrators in managing Glow accounts, providing essential links and guidance for password security and account management. It includes instructions for resetting passwords, resources for safeguarding online activity, and contact information for Glow Key Contacts to resolve access issues.
