Important Update: Glow Blogs Archiving and Deletion

As part of routine maintenance and service management, a number of Glow Blogs have been identified for archiving and deletion. If your blog has been selected, you will receive a notification that will appear at the top of your blog which will start showing during early May 2025.

Some blogs may be used for school websites, e-portfolios, or other important purposes, so it’s important to review this information carefully and take action if you wish to retain access.

Below, you’ll find guidance on what to do after notifications start appearing on affected blogs/e-portfolios, depending on whether you are a teacher/staff member or a student.

For Teachers & Staff

If your blog is archived but you still need access, you can request its restoration. You must act before the specified deadline 21 August 2025 to prevent permanent deletion.

What to do next:

  1. Check if your blog is archived – you will see a notification (from early May 2025) on your blog if it has been selected for archiving/deletion.
  2. Request a restore – Contact your Glow Key Contact – they can raise a support request on your behalf.

If you don’t know who your Glow Key Contact is, you can find a list of GKC shared mailboxes here: https://glowconnect.org.uk/contacts/

If you need further assistance, you can contact the Glow Engagement mailbox: glow.engagement@educationscotland.gov.scot

For Students

If you have a blog or e-portfolio that you would like to keep that has been highlighted for archiving/deletion, please follow the below guidance.

What to do next:

  1. Check your blog for an archive notice – if you see a message stating it is due for archiving/deletion, take action.
  2. Tell a teacher – a teacher or staff member will need to submit a request on your behalf. They should follow the guidance shown above under ‘For Teachers & Staff’.
  3. Ensure action is taken before the deadline – if no request is made by 21 August 2025, your blog or e-portfolio may be permanently deleted.
