Update – New Teams in Glow

From the 26th of February 2024, the default experience will now be set to New Teams. This will hopefully help everyone get used to the new features and look and feel prior to the Microsoft change to New Teams and retirement of Classic Teams at the end of March 2024.

Using new Teams includes:

Switch between accounts

The ability to easily switch between Microsoft accounts (e.g. a local authority M365 account and a Glow account) allowing more seamless collaboration and less disruption. This is referred to by Microsoft as Multi Tenant Multi Account (MTMA)

Updated look and feel

Updates such as new channels and chat experience, ability to see raised hands and participants while presenting in a Teams meeting and a new look based on system settings e.g. dark mode or other high contrast settings

Less resource intensive

Some speed and performance improvements.

If necessary, to return to classic Teams Classic, visit the three-dots menu in the top right corner of your Teams window, then toggle the New Teams switch to off. New Teams application will close the Teams Classic will open.

You will no longer be able to toggle between New Teams and Classic Teams (planned by Microsoft for the end of March 2024).

Known Issues and Key Differences

Microsoft have produced a page to provide information on areas they are still working on. It also includes useful information on some key differences between Classic and New Teams e.g. changes in presence behaviour.
