Exchange Web Services (EWS) is a legacy technology used by some email applications to access Glow email and calendar data.
It has been in use for nearly 20 years, and Microsoft is now retiring it in favour of more secure and modern technologies, including Modern Authentication and the Microsoft Graph API. As a result, some email apps may no longer be able to connect to your Glow inbox and calendar.
When will this happen?
This change will take place gradually between October 2026 and April 2027.
Who will be affected?
You may be affected if you use any of the following apps to access your Glow email or calendar:
Aqua Mail
EdisonMail
Fantastical for Mac Apple Mail (especially on iOS 10 or earlier)
Mailbird
MobiOffice
OfficeMail Pro
Spark
Thunderbird
What can you do in advance of this retirement?
Update your email app to the latest version, you may need to remove and re-add your Glow account after updating.
