Grade All in Google Classroom

What’s new?

The “Grade all” feature in Google Classroom is a time-saving tool for teachers that allows them to quickly assign the same grade to all or multiple students for a specific assignment.

It is particularly useful for assignments that are graded based on completion rather than accuracy, such as exit tickets, warm-ups, or simple classwork, where most students receive the same score (e.g., full credit or a “done” grade).

Key features

Bulk Grading: It lets you enter a single grade that will be applied to all students for that assignment in one action, eliminating the need to enter each grade individually.
Override existing grades: This lets you replace any grades you or another teacher may have already entered for the assignment.
Automatically return after grading: This allows the grades to be immediately returned to the students after you apply the bulk grade, which saves an extra step.
Workflow: Many teachers use this feature after manually marking any students who are missing the work or who received a different grade, and then use “Grade all” to quickly give full credit to the remaining students.

Turn on Grade All

  1. On your computer, go to classroom.google.com.
  2. Select Grades.
  3. In an assignment, click More  and then Grade all.
  4. In the dialog box that opens, enter the bulk grade.
    • Optional: To override current grades with the new bulk grade, select Override existing grades.
    • Optional: To return all grades after you submit the new bulk grade, select Automatically return after grading.
  5. Click Enter grades and return.

Tip: You can only use this feature on the Web.
