Overview:
Artificial intelligence (AI) and its close cousin, machine learning, are no longer futuristic concepts, because they’re quietly embedding themselves into our daily tasks. Since the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, there has been tremendous interest in generative AI (GAI) in relation to both its potential and the risks it poses across all sectors of society. Within education, research suggests those benefits include the streamlining of administrative tasks, more effective assessment practices and approaches to personalised learning.
Within Glow, AI tools are working behind the scenes to streamline our workflow processes, boost our productivity and open up opportunities for creativity.
Project:
The AI in Glow Project was delivered by colleagues in Education Scotland and in collaboration with Scottish Government, Local Authorities, Google for Education and External Partners.
One of the main focuses for the work was to address the user story below:
As Scotland’s national digital learning platform provider, we need to share information highlighting the AI features already in Glow that could be used to support learning, teaching and assessment, so that we can support with diminishing the fear factor for those unsure about AI and demonstrate that Glow is evolving based on user feedback”
