Change to Microsoft Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)

What is M365 MFA and which methods are changing?

When you access some services using your Glow M365 account or access the Security page in your M365 profile you are asked to provide a second form of authentication after entering your password. This is known as multi-factor authentication (MFA) and helps protect your account.

When is this happening?

From 1 February (updated date), you may be prompted to register a new MFA method for your Glow M365 account.

Some users currently receive:

  • An SMS text message containing a six-digit verification code
  • A WhatsApp message containing a verification code
  • An automated phone call

These authentication methods are being retired by Microsoft.

What do I need to do?

  • To prevent issues accessing services that require MFA on your Glow M365 account you should register an alternative authentication method as soon as possible before 1 February (updated date).
  • The recommended option is the Microsoft Authenticator app, which allows you to approve sign-in requests securely on your mobile device. You can also use other authenticator services that generate One Time Passcodes like Google Authenticator. You may already be using these apps for other sites and services that require MFA. Both are available in Google and iPhone app stores for no cost.

How do I do that?

From within your Glow M365 account:

Access View Account from your M365 profile (bottom left of the M365 Copilot home screen)

Expand My Account and select Security Info – if you have MFA setup you may be prompted for the details at this point

Choose Add sign-in method

Choose Microsoft Authenticator

If you already have Microsoft Authenticator click Next, or if you want to use another app like Google Authenticator click Set up a different authentication app. In either case follow the on screen instructions.

You should also set it as your default method by clicking Change on the Security info page
